With the invention of photography in the 19th century, a new technique emerged for capturing completely realistic images from nature on (photographic) paper. We owe a large selection of modern ship photographs to the Warnemünde master photographer Erhard Schäfer (1897-1987). He took numerous photos of ships of the Deutsche Seereederei Rostock (DSR) from the 1960s to the 1980s, a selection of which is presented on this digital picture frame.
