Model of a junk, a type of sailing ship originating from China. This is a carving made from horn. The hull of the ship is depicted in the shape of a dragon. In Chinese and East Asian culture, the dragon is considered the lord of the water and is also a symbol of success, life, wealth, power and luck. The model came to Warnemünde as a sailor's souvenir.
