We have model maker Fred Hoppe to thank for this model of the legendary seaside resort steamer "UNDINE". Even though only the hull remains of the real "UNDINE", it is considered to be the oldest surviving seaside resort ship in Germany. The ship was built in 1910 as the "KRONPRINZ WILHELM" at the Rostock Neptune shipyard. From 1920 it was known simply as the "KRONPRINZ" and from 1950 as the "UNDINE". After German reunification, the tragedy of the "UNDINE" began and her future remains uncertain after she was salvaged from Rostock's city harbour and brought ashore in February 2024.
