This motif mug is decorated with a portrait of the steamer "GRETE CORDS", which is just about to pass the harbour entrance in Warnemünde. The "GRETE CORDS" was built in 1903 for the shipping company Cords & Schmidt at the Rostock Neptune shipyard. The ship, which was scrapped in 1989, was actually a legend of GDR merchant shipping, as it was the first GDR merchant ship to be put back into service after the Second World War in 1950 under the name "VORWÄRTS". However, this was only for a short time, because due to irreparable boiler damage, the ship served from then on as the "pioneer ship VORWÄRTS" and lay in Rostock's city harbour for many years.
