In his book "Westward-Ho", Warnemünde captain Ludwig Albrand talks about the heyday of sailing ships. As was typical for many Warnemünde boys, Albrand began his career as a ship's boy. However, he managed to do what not everyone else did, namely rise to the rank of captain. In his memoirs, Albrand, who himself sailed around Cape Horn, wistfully notes the end of the tall ships at the beginning of the 20th century, but also describes their fascination.
