Oil painting "Outpost boats of the Imperial German Navy entering Warnemünde harbour"

This and the following two oil paintings are on loan from the Rostock hobby painter Uwe Weller. The first painting shows incoming outpost boats of the Imperial German Navy entering Warnemünde harbour. The western pier with its characteristic navigation marks is clearly recognisable on the left-hand edge of the picture.

A walk to the tip of the Westmole was already a "must" for the first bathers 200 years ago when staying in Warnemünde. Ship-watching is as popular as ever. From 1886 to 1916, there was even a wooden grandstand on the pier head where you could take a seat to watch the ship traffic or the sunset or simply let your gaze wander over the vastness of the Baltic Sea.
